More questions

How does privacy and confidentiality work?

Both paths are fully confidential and follow all HIPAA guidelines.

Families who choose IFC Premier experience an added level of privacy because insurance is not involved. This means:

  • Almost all communication is handled directly between clinician and client (instead of typically through an IFC admin)
  • No formal diagnosis is required for billing
  • A diagnosis is not added to your child’s permanent medical record
  • Session notes remain fully internal to IFC

The insurance path is still fully confidential — it simply requires the use of diagnostic codes for billing.

Can I use my insurance benefits with IFC Premier?

IFC Premier sessions are paid out of pocket rather than billed to insurance. However, many families are able to use out-of-network benefits for partial reimbursement.

IFC provides a superbill that you can submit to your insurance provider. Coverage and reimbursement vary by plan, and the IFC team is happy to answer questions about how this process works.

Can I choose IFC Premier if I am in-network with BlueCross BlueShield (PPO)?

Yes. Families who are in-network with BlueCross BlueShield PPO may still choose IFC Premier as a private-pay option. IFC can also help answer questions about payment or potential reimbursement.

Can we switch between paths?

Yes. If your needs or circumstances change, IFC can help you switch between using insurance and IFC Premier. Your care team will guide you through the process so it’s smooth and supportive.

Who are the IFC Premier therapists?

IFC Premier sessions are provided by IFC’s most experienced and specialized clinicians — experienced therapists who bring advanced training, specialization, and extensive clinical expertise. All IFC clinicians are highly qualified; this option simply allows families to work directly with more experienced or more specialized members of the clinical team if they prefer.

Can siblings be seen through different paths?

Yes. Each child’s therapy plan is tailored to their specific needs, and families may choose different access paths for each child if that feels right.

What forms of payment are accepted?

IFC accepts:

  • Credit/debit cards
  • HSA/FSA cards
  • Monthly billing for ongoing sessions (if applicable)
How do I know which path is right for my family?

All options provide the same warm, evidence-based, relationship-centered care. The decision often comes down to:

  • Your insurance coverage and preferences
  • Whether you prefer direct access to a more experienced or specialized clinician

If you’re unsure, our team is happy to talk through the options with you.

How do we get started?

You can begin by completing an intake form online. During the intake process, our team will guide you through both access paths and help you choose the approach that best fits your family.
